San Diego County Gun Owners Say Sheriff is Finally Issuing CCW Permits, Releases Step-by-Step Video of How to Apply

San Diego California Concealed Carry

As many of you know getting a concealed carry permit, handgun, or pretty much getting anything to let you better express your second amendment rights in California is incredibly hard to do. Well, at least in San Diego County getting a CCW permit may have just gotten a lot easier.

After many years of legal struggles between guns rights organizations and the sheriff’s office of San Diego County regarding allowing CCW permits for residents, there has been a recent breakthrough in talks between the sheriff and an organization called San Diego County Gun Owners.

In a video that the organization released through YouTube they announced that while not a perfect solution for carriers, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office is allowing for residents to get their CCW Permits in the county. This news was also confirmed by The Times of San Diego based on word from the Sheriff himself, Bill Gore.

Going along with this good news and also included in the video announcing this breakthrough, San Diego County Gun Owners is letting residents know, through a step-by-step guide how best to go about getting your concealed carry permit.

Now it should be prefaced, as it is in the video that these changes to San Diego County statute are new and there may not be a perfect system in place for getting your permit that follows the video, however San Diego County Gun Owners is asking for anyone who goes through the process and notices something off about the way they reported you could get your permit to email them so they can improve the information they are giving to the public.

All-in-all it is not a perfect system for gun-loving Californians, but this is definitely an improvement for San Diegans who wish to enter the ranks of concealed carriers.

We are seeing results. Since the changes in September hundreds have applied and been approved. Not one person has been turned down due to their good cause.
Thank you for helping us get the word out.

This is welcome news indeed. I somehow missed it until I heard Carl DeMaio’s interview of Sheriff Gore on the radio yesterday (Friday, 4/6/18). I was considering supporting Dave Myers for Sheriff in spite of all of his negatives, but now I will likely vote to re-elect Bill Gore.

I just hope he means it, and isn’t just pandering to pro-RKBA voters. He did say he was sincere and would not flip-flop, and I don’t have any real reason to doubt his word. He has done a commendable job as Sheriff.

No, Gore will probably change his mind right after the election. No way I can’t support someone who flip flops and does very little.

I called them today for the first CCW Permit appointment and the first appointment is 6 months away. Today is 10/11 and the appointment for me is on 4/24. She told me to fill out the entire application even though it says not to. Just don’t date or sign it. All I need for my first appointment is the application, payment, and driver’s license.
