Elderly Jurupa Valley Couple Saved from Criminal by Husband’s Firearm

Jurupa Valley DGU

Jurupa Valley was luckily saved from a 39-acre wildfire that had been threatening homes in the area last week thanks to the hard work of local emergency crews, so it’s only fair that Jurupa Valley citizens repay the hard work emergency services did for them, right? Well, an elderly couple certainly made a robbery arrest much easier thanks to the armed husband’s handling of a potentially dangerous situation.

This incident occurred last Friday, December 8th just four days after the fire was affecting the area. A 34-year-old man by the name of Jose Julian Rodriguez had barely let the embers cool down before attempting to take advantage of the chaos and rob the home of an elderly couple in the area.

The couple’s names have not been released, but reports indicate that a 63-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man were the homeowners of the targeted domicile.

At around 6:30 in the morning the wife heard a noise outside the couple’s home, so naturally given the strange occurrence the 70-year-old husband picked up his handgun and went out to see what could be going on.

Immediately the elderly man was shocked to see Rodriguez standing outside with a crowbar and hammer in his hands attempting to pry open the front door.

Rodriguez may have been dumb enough to attempt such a stupid crime, but he was smart enough to realize that even against a 70-year-old, his crowbar and hammer were no match to the firearm being carried.

Rodriguez gave up without a fight and was taken to jail by the local police who had a fantastic response time of 4 minutes to the scene.

It still goes to show though that the firearm the elderly husband had was such a fantastic tool as it blew past the barrier of age in combat and managed to stop the criminal before both he could do anything life-threatening and before the police could even arrive. This is a fantastic account of just why concealed carriers do what they do and speaks to how much just having a firearm can protect you and your family.
